Project X-ITE is staking out new ground where innovation, technology and entrepreneurship intersect. It’s a cross-disciplinary initiative, the first of its kind at the University of Denver, to ignite new ideas across the University and beyond, to build exciting, impactful partnerships with creative thinkers and doers in industry and government. University of Denver Chancellor Rebecca Chopp today announced that DU alum and local entrepreneur, Erik Mitisek will join the University of Denver as the new executive director of Project XITE effective April 8.
As the executive director of Project XITE, Mitisek will connect creative thinkers and doers in industry and government to faculty and students around the intersection of innovation, technology and entrepreneurship. He will help create partnerships that forge new opportunities for the DU community across disciplines to connect to each other and to the broader innovation economy. The Project XITE initiative looks to position DU as a global leader in innovation and entrepreneurship-related higher education and increase DU’s profile as Denver’s platform for ITE topics globally. As co-chair of Startup Colorado and organizing chair and co-founder of the annual Denver Startup Week, Mitisek brings the wealth of knowledge needed to successfully position the University in the innovation, technology and entrepreneurial marketplace, a key goal for the University’s new strategic plan: DU IMPACT 2025.
Chancellor Rebecca Chopp said, “Erik is highly respected in the Colorado startup scene. His entrepreneurial drive is exactly what the University needs to become a player in the innovation and technology growth driving Denver’s economy.”
